Itinerary
The Kauri Museum – Matakohe
Step into the rich heritage of Northland’s mighty kauri trees and early pioneer life at this fascinating, award-winning museum.
3 Nights Hokianga
Experience the relaxed Hokianga lifestyle at our waterfront accommodation with daily cooked breakfast included.
Unwind with panoramic harbour views where Kupe first arrived in Aotearoa. With its twin settlements of Ōmāpere and Opononi the sight of Hokianga’s magnificent rolling golden sand dunes rising from the sea, is breathtaking every time.
On our first night we have a special (included) Welcome Dinner.
Giant Kauris of Waipoua Forest – Twilight Encounter with Footprints Waipoua
As the forest comes alive at dusk, follow your Māori guide into the ancient Waipoua Forest. Under the cloak of evening, meet Tane Mahuta and Te Matua Ngahere, the world’s oldest and largest known kauri trees. Spiritual chants, storytelling and humour combine in this powerful, unforgettable experience.
Manea – Footprints of Kupe Experience
A multisensory cultural journey blending storytelling, digital effects, art, film, and live performance in a stunning harbourside setting. Feel the presence of Kupe, the great Polynesian navigator.
3 Nights Paihia
Relax at our centrally located hotel with daily cooked breakfast. A superb location for exploring the charming Bay of Islands.
Great Sights Hole in the Rock Cruise
Board a purpose-built catamaran for a scenic voyage through the Bay. Spot dolphins and marine life as you pass Cape Brett Lighthouse and—weather permitting—cruise right through the iconic Hole in the Rock.
Russell – the Hell Hole of the Pacific
Todays calm and pleasant atmosphere in Russell does not reflect the turbulent years when this small village became New Zealands first permanent European settlement and seaport.
The town’s streets retain their original layout and names from 1843, and many of its historic buildings can still be visited today.
New Zealand’s first licensed hotel, bar and restaurant, The Duke of Marlborough is located on the waterfront in the historic village of Russell.
Hundertwasser Art Centre – Whangarei
Explore two vibrant galleries: the whimsical world of Austrian-Kiwi artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser and the Wairau Māori Art Gallery showcasing contemporary indigenous works.
