Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrive Catania
Arrive in Catania and make your own way to the hotel. The remainder of the day is free to settle in or begin exploring this lively Sicilian city. Overnight Catania.
Day 2 – Syracuse & Ortigia
Travel to historic Syracuse, one of Sicily's greatest archaeological treasures. Visit the Archaeological Park of Neapolis, including the Greek Theatre, Roman Amphitheatre, Latomie of Paradise and the famous Ear of Dionysius. Continue to the charming island of Ortigia to see the elegant Piazza Duomo and magnificent Cathedral. Overnight Ragusa.
Day 3 – Ragusa Ibla, Modica & Piazza Armerina
Explore beautiful Ragusa Ibla, renowned for its Baroque churches and grand palaces. Continue to Modica for a tasting of its internationally acclaimed artisan chocolate before lunch. This afternoon visit the UNESCO-listed Villa Romana del Casale, home to some of the world's finest Roman mosaics. Overnight Agrigento.
Day 4 – Valley of the Temples & Marsala
Discover the spectacular Valley of the Temples, one of Sicily's greatest archaeological sites. Continue to historic Marsala for a guided visit and wine tasting at the famous Florio Cellars, followed by a light lunch. Later travel along the scenic Salt Road with its traditional windmills and salt pans before arriving in Palermo. Overnight Palermo.
Day 5 – Monreale & Palermo
Visit Monreale's magnificent Norman Cathedral, celebrated for its dazzling Byzantine mosaics and beautiful cloisters. Continue into Palermo to explore its rich blend of Norman, Arab and Baroque architecture, including the Cathedral, Martorana Church, Cappella Palatina, Teatro Massimo and Pretoria Square. Overnight Palermo.
Day 6 – Cefalù & Catania
Visit the delightful seaside town of Cefalù, dominated by its impressive Norman Cathedral. Enjoy free time to wander the medieval streets before lunch. Continue to Catania for a guided walk through the historic centre, including Piazza Duomo, the Elephant Fountain, University Square and elegant Via dei Crociferi. Sample a traditional Sicilian granita and brioche. Overnight Catania.
Day 7 – Mount Etna & Taormina
Visit Catania's lively fish market before travelling to Mount Etna, Europe's highest active volcano. Explore the Silvestri Craters and enjoy a tasting of local honey. After lunch continue to the beautiful hilltop town of Taormina, with time to browse boutiques, relax in a café or admire spectacular views of the coastline and Mount Etna. Overnight Catania.
Day 8 – Depart Catania
Breakfast concludes your memorable Sicilian holiday.
